On the first day everyone meets at 11 to get to know their fellow collaborators as well as the others also doing the challenge. At 12 there is a short introduction and a reminder of the structure of the 1 month jam, then the Theme for the month and the Mystery Location will be revealed!
From that point on you will have 1 month to come up with the story, Write the script, rehearse the actors, Shoot what you can then edit what you’ve got. All in time for drinks and the big screening back at the pub 1 month later!
The structure
The structural integrity of the original idea must be respected and anyone who joins a particular project to develop the story must stay true to it.
Film Length must be a maximum of 10 minutes. Please keep the 2nd weekend free for filming.
Rules
- All projects will use members of Film Jam in at least 90% of roles. This total includes actors and crew.
- All projects must incorporate the theme as stated at the start of each 1 Month Jam
- There is no limit on budget but this will come out of your own money. Film Jam will not reimburse for expenses incurred.
- All material in the film must be created during the 1 Month challenge period.
- All material must be free of any copyright claims, and you indemnify us against any claims.
- No materials will be returned so just send in a copy either online or give in a hard copy.
- All films are to be returned by midnight on the agreed end date, a maximum of 10 minutes in length, copyright cleared and containing the previously issued theme.
- All films will show a supplied graphic at the beginning of the film. – you can download it on the day.
- All creativity must occur within the competition period: writing, rehearsing, shooting, editing, graphics, sound design, etc. Get your film to us by midnight on the agreed date so we can show your film at the social and risk being excluded from this event.
- By entering you agree to give us non-exclusive, worldwide rights to the film. Non-exclusive means you still own it and can do what you like with it. Enter it into festivals, put it in your showreel, anything!
- By attending the 1 month Film Jam all participants agree to these rules and will be excluded from this event, any future events, the overall group and screening if they are found in breach of them.
- If you are unable to continue in your role in 1 or more of the 1 Month projects, please let us or the projects know. We understand that life can sometimes get in the way and this will not affect your future eligibility for any of the Film Jams.
